About WRFC 11
The World Recreational Fishing Conference (WRFC) is held every three years and is the preeminent and largest international recreational fisheries conference attracting fisheries experts, researchers, policymakers, industry and anglers from around the globe. They come together to share their science, their issues, their experiences, failures, successes, and vision to learn about current research trends, science breakthroughs, network, share problems and co-develop solutions.

The last conference (10th WRFC) was hosted in Melbourne, Australia in 2023. In 2026, the 11th WRFC will be held at the Mpekweni Beach Resort in South Africa from the 22nd – 26th of February 2026. This will be a first for Africa and is timely because of the rapidly rising interest in domestic and foreign recreational fisheries on the continent and their associated biological and social impacts.
The conference theme is based on this idea and we hope to explore the theme of “Sharing global experiences to promote resilient recreational fisheries”.
